Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 148/7 in 20 overs, where as Trinbago Knight Riders scored 149/5 in 19.2 overs.
So, finally Trinbago Knight Riders won by five wickets.
Andre Russell’s explosive 36 off 15 balls and a steady 31 off 24 from Tim David guided the Trinbago Knight Riders to a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Chasing a challenging target of 149 on a difficult pitch, TKR found themselves in a precarious position at 89/5, needing 60 runs off 30 balls.
Russell, making a comeback from injury, joined David at the crease.
While David struggled to find his timing, Russell immediately began to make an impact with powerful hitting.
Two key moments defined their partnership.
First, Russell was granted a second chance when Junior Sinclair dropped a sharp chance at deep backward square leg.
Then, Nathan Sowter, who had been exceptional up until that point, was hit for three sixes in an over by Russell, leveling the run chase.
Despite some clever death bowling from the Warriors and a tight penultimate over from Dwaine Pretorius, TKR required 12 runs off the final over.
David seized the moment, hitting consecutive sixes off the first two deliveries to secure the win.
Earlier, the Warriors struggled with their batting as TKR’s spin trio dominated.
Although Tim Robinson (34 off 28) gave them a solid start, they collapsed to 76/7 with eight overs still remaining.
Waqar Salamkheil (2-19) and Sunil Narine (2-24) were instrumental in their downfall.
Romario Shepherd (51* off 24) and Pretorius (21* off 25) mounted a remarkable recovery, making the total competitive despite the dew.
Shamar Joseph (1-27) and Sowter (2-37) applied pressure during the chase, with Sowter’s double strike in an over denting TKR’s chances.
When Nicholas Pooran fell in the 15th over after a rare struggle, Guyana appeared to be in control.
However, Russell’s explosive innings, supported by David, turned the game around for TKR.
