Barbados Royals scored 96/9 in 20 overs, where as Saint Lucia Kings scored 97/3 in 13.5 overs.
So, finally Saint Lucia Kings beat Barbados Royals by 7 wickets.
An all-round performance from Roston Chase, coupled with a four-wicket haul by Alzarri Joseph, propelled Saint Lucia Kings to a dominant victory over Barbados Royals in Guyana on Saturday (September 21).
The Royals, leading the table before the match, struggled right from the start and were restricted to a meager 96/9.
Despite a slightly shaky beginning, Saint Lucia comfortably chased down the target with 37 balls to spare, climbing to second in the standings.
Rovman Powell’s decision to bat first proved costly, as Joseph dismantled the top order in his very first over, dismissing both openers.
Quinton de Kock was bowled after losing his off stump, while Rahkeem Cornwall mistimed a shot, leaving the Royals reeling.
Things quickly worsened as Chase joined in, taking a wicket to leave the Royals at 13/3.
Joseph claimed his third victim shortly after, sending the Royals’ captain back to the pavilion, and leaving the team with just 28 runs at the end of the powerplay.
Hopes of a recovery faded fast as wickets continued to fall in the middle overs.
Noor Ahmad and Chase took full control, reducing the Royals to 50/7 before David Miller fought back with the lower order to avoid being bowled out.
Maheesh Theekshana capped the innings with a six off the final ball, but the Royals could only post 96/9.
Theekshana offered a glimmer of hope for the Royals with a wicket-maiden after Jason Holder had already dismissed Johnson Charles.
However, Faf du Plessis quickly responded with consecutive boundaries off Holder, followed by a six off Theekshana to settle any nerves before the powerplay ended.
Du Plessis was stumped soon after, but Chase remained at the crease, guiding the Kings with ease alongside Tim Seifert, as they chased down the target in the 14th over.
