Barbados Royals scored 205/6 in 20 overs, where as Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 173/5 in 20 overs.
So, finally Barbados Royals beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 32 runs.
In a top-of-the-table clash, Barbados Royals capitalized on Quinton de Kock’s maiden CPL century to secure a 32-run victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors, moving them to the top of the points table.
De Kock’s blistering 115 off 68 balls (8 fours, 9 sixes) and a late flourish of 28* off 10 by Jason Holder propelled the Royals to 205/6.
Despite Guyana’s efforts, they struggled for a substantial contribution as regular wickets—three from Keshav Maharaj and two from Holder—halted their progress, restricting them to 173/5 and handing them their first defeat of the 2024 campaign.
Sent in to bat, Kadeem Alleyne set the tone for the Royals with a quick start, smashing a six and a four off Dwaine Pretorius in the opening over.
Moeen Ali was introduced early to tackle de Kock, but Alleyne capitalized by hitting another six and a four before Pretorius claimed his wicket.
De Kock then took control, driving two consecutive boundaries off Keemo Paul.
Alick Athanaze joined the charge with a six off Paul as the Royals ended the powerplay at 49/1.
De Kock’s aggression continued, smashing two fours and a six off Shamar Joseph and reaching his fifty off just 34 balls as the Royals climbed to 94/1 at the halfway stage.
The onslaught continued, with de Kock launching a six off Gudakesh Motie as Royals crossed 100.
Although Athanaze contributed minimally with a 19-ball 16 before being dismissed by Raymon Reifer, de Kock remained relentless, hitting two sixes off Reifer to race into the 80s.
Royals lost Powell and Miller in quick succession, but de Kock kept the scoreboard ticking, eventually bringing up his hundred off 60 deliveries.
Holder joined the party, smashing three consecutive sixes and a four in a 25-run 19th over, while de Kock added two more sixes before getting out in the final over.
Rivaldo Clarke capped off the innings with a six, taking the Royals past 200.
Guyana’s chase faltered early, as they lost Azam Khan cheaply to Holder.
Shai Hope and Tim Robinson struck a few boundaries to steady the innings, but Robinson soon fell to Maharaj.
Shimron Hetmyer counterattacked with two sixes off Maharaj, and the Warriors reached 46/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Rain caused a lengthy interruption with Guyana 14 runs behind the DLS par score, but the game resumed without any overs lost.
Hetmyer continued his charge with three sixes in a row, but Maharaj dismissed him for a 10-ball 28, leaving the Warriors with a steep task at the halfway mark.
Hope and Moeen kept the chase alive with a couple of boundary-laden overs, but the required rate ballooned past 13 per over.
Hope was caught and bowled by Holder for 40, and Moeen perished to Maharaj soon after striking a six.
With 77 runs needed in the last five overs, Guyana couldn’t keep up as the Royals’ bowlers tightened the screws, sealing a comfortable victory.
