Assistant coaches Carl Hopkinson and Richard Dawson will step down from England’s white-ball coaching setup, the ECB confirmed on Sunday (November 17).
These changes are part of a broader restructure of the coaching staff for England’s white-ball teams, with Brendon McCullum set to take over as head coach for all formats starting in January.
Hopkinson played a key role in England’s victories in the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup, while Dawson, who previously coached England’s Young Lions, contributed to the latter triumph in Australia.
However, England’s recent white-ball performances have dipped, with failed title defences in India and the USA-West Indies over the past year, culminating in the resignation of former head coach Matthew Mott earlier this year.
“Hoppo and Daws are two exceptional coaches who have been instrumental in the success of our white-ball teams,” said Rob Key, Director of Cricket.
“Alongside their work with the senior teams, they’ve also nurtured young talent, helping to lay the foundation for the next generation of white-ball cricketers.
England Cricket is in a stronger position thanks to their efforts, and I wish them all the best in the next phase of their careers.”
