Ben Sawyer has signed a two-year extension as head coach of the New Zealand Women’s team, NZC confirmed.

The new deal will keep Sawyer in charge until December 2026.

Appointed in June 2022, Sawyer led the team to a historic T20 World Cup victory in October this year.

He will now aim to defend the title in 2026 when the tournament takes place in England, as well as lead New Zealand in their pursuit of the ODI World Cup in India next year.

“We’re thrilled to have Ben commit for another two years,” said NZC Head of Women’s High Performance, Liz Green.

“He has instilled a great deal of belief and trust within the team, and his continued leadership is crucial, both for the current squad and for the long-term growth of the WHITE FERNS.”

“Many of our young players, who debuted during Ben’s first tour two years ago, are starting to thrive, as seen in the recent T20 World Cup.

The significant progress made during that tournament is a testament to the work Ben and the coaching staff have put in over the last two years.”

New Zealand’s next assignment will be a home series against Australia, with three ODIs scheduled for 19, 21, and 23 December.
