Left-arm medium-fast bowler Barinder Sran has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket.

The 31-year-old represented India in six ODIs and two T20Is, all between January and June 2016.

“As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude,” Sran shared on his Instagram page.

“Cricket has given me countless incredible experiences.

Fast bowling became my lucky charm, leading me to represent prestigious IPL franchises and ultimately achieve the highest honor of playing for India in 2016.

“Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished.

I am eternally grateful to the almighty for placing the right coaches and management in my path, who supported me throughout my journey.”

Sran had played only eight List A games before making his ODI debut under MS Dhoni in Perth, where he took seven wickets in six matches in the 50-over format.

Later that year, he debuted in T20Is, also under Dhoni’s captaincy, during the tour of Zimbabwe.

He made an immediate impact, earning the Player of the Match award in his first game with figures of 4 for 10, which helped bowl out the hosts for 99.

Sran last appeared in a first-class match in 2019 and in a List A game in 2021.

He also represented four IPL franchises—Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, and Mumbai Indians—making a total of 24 appearances between 2015 and 2019, during which he claimed 18 wickets at an economy rate of 9.40.
