Mushfiqur Rahim has been omitted from the Bangladesh’s Test squad for West Indies tour
Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad on Sunday that did not include the experienced wicketkeeper-batsman.
Following discussions with BCB president, Najmul Hossain Shanto has agreed to take over as captain for the series.
Shanto had previously expressed his desire to step down from the Test captaincy after the South Africa series.
Jaker Ali, along with Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, returns to the squad for the series, which is scheduled to begin on December 22, with the second match set for December 30.
Earlier, Cricpulse reported that Mushfiqur would miss the series due to a finger injury, which had also caused him to miss two ODIs, after he sustained the injury during the opening game of the series.
The BCB also decided against including Shakib Al Hasan, further suggesting that his Test career may be coming to an end after he missed the farewell Test against South Africa at home.
Meanwhile, off-spinner Nayeem Hasan and pacer Khaled Ahmed were dropped from the squad for the West Indies Tests.
This revision maintains the original meaning while enhancing readability and structure.
