Bangladesh batter Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out of the third T20I against the West Indies due to a finger injury.

Sarkar injured his right index finger while attempting a catch in the seventh over of the West Indies’ innings and did not return to the match.

Bangladesh secured the series with one game remaining after winning the second T20I by 27 runs at St. Vincent on Wednesday, following a seven-run victory in the first game.

The left-handed batter is expected to miss a few games in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, which begins on December 30.

According to a statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Sarkar’s injury may keep him out of action for around three weeks.

“Soumya sustained a cut on his right index finger while fielding, requiring five stitches.

An X-ray revealed a subluxation in the affected area.

His recovery is expected to take three to four weeks,” said national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan.
