2nd Test
Day-1 Highlights:
Shadman’s 50 has helped the West Indies team to recover from an early stumble on the shortened opening day

At The Stumps of Day-1:
Bangladesh scored 69/2 (1st Innings) vs West Indies.
Bangladesh scored 69 runs but lost two wickets in the 30 overs of play possible on Day 1 at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
Shadman Islam remained unbeaten on 50, guiding the visitors to 69 at Stumps after they had been reduced to 10 for 2 within the first seven overs.
Due to heavy rains in Jamaica over the past few weeks, the outfield was wet and unsuitable for play for most of the day, leading to a lengthy delay of over five hours before the match could start.
On a historic note, Kraigg Brathwaite surpassed Sir Garfield Sobers to set a new record for the most consecutive Tests played by a West Indies player (86).
Kemar Roach immediately found his rhythm with the ball for the West Indies after Bangladesh elected to bat.
He beat Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s outside edge with the very first ball, as it nipped away sharply.
Jayden Seales supported well, beating the bat several times with the new ball.
Roach finally made the breakthrough when he got a delivery to angle in to Mahmudul, only for it to nip away at the last moment and find the edge, which was caught by wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva.
Mominul Haque was dismissed for a duck, with Roach picking up his second wicket in the next over.
Similar to Mahmudul, Mominul edged one that nipped away from around the wicket, leaving Bangladesh in early trouble at 10 for 2.
Just when another batting collapse seemed imminent, Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain forged an unbeaten 59-run partnership to take Bangladesh to Stumps without further loss.
The West Indies will have only themselves to blame for dropping three catches in the first 20 overs.
Jayden Seales delivered an outstanding spell, with figures of 7-5-2-0, bowling three consecutive maidens and five in total, persistently challenging the batters.
However, Shadman punished any loose deliveries, hitting two boundaries off Roach and Greaves, and later smashing a six down the ground off Kavem Hodge to bring up his 50.
