Bangladesh is concerned about Towhid Hridoy’s fitness ahead of West Indies ODIs
Towhid Hridoy’s groin injury ahead of Bangladesh’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies has come as a fresh blow for the team.
The 23-year-old top-order batter sustained the injury while playing football during a practice session in Bogra.
As a result, Bangladesh has delayed the announcement of the ODI squad, awaiting Hridoy’s medical reports.
A BCB official confirmed to Cricpulse, “He (Hridoy) suffered a groin injury, and we are waiting for the medical report.”
Bangladesh are already without Mushfiqur Rahim (fractured finger) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (groin) for the ongoing Test series due to their respective injuries.
While Mushfiqur is unlikely to be included in the ODI squad, the team management is hopeful for Najmul’s swift recovery, though they are cautious about rushing him back too soon.
After losing the first Test by 201 runs to the West Indies, Bangladesh will face them again in the second Test starting November 30.
The three ODIs will be played in St Kitts on December 8, 10, and 12, followed by three T20Is in St Vincent on December 15, 17, and 19.
