So, finally Bangladesh trail by 410 runs.
West Indies extended their dominance over Bangladesh with Justin Greaves’ maiden Test century and a late flurry of wickets, leaving the visitors trailing by a massive 410 runs at Stumps on Day 2 of the first Test in Antigua.
Bangladesh ended the day with only eight wickets remaining in their first innings.
Greaves, who resumed the day unbeaten on 11, found solid support from Kemar Roach.
The pair shared a crucial 140-run partnership for the eighth wicket, frustrating Bangladesh’s bowlers and guiding West Indies to a declaration on 452 for 9.
However, the morning session saw some early breakthroughs for the visitors, with Hasan Mahmud trapping Joshua da Silva LBW for 14 and dismissing Alzarri Joseph cheaply for 4 in the space of 10 balls, leaving West Indies at 261 for 7.
Roach’s steady knock of 47 helped stabilize the innings, as he and Greaves steered the team past 300.
Their partnership grew to over 100 runs before Roach fell just three runs short of a half-century, becoming Hasan Mahmud’s third victim of the day.
Greaves soon reached his maiden Test century with a boundary straight down the ground, and contributions from Jayden Seales (18 off 25) and Shamar Joseph (11 off 8) helped take West Indies to the 450-run mark before they declared their innings.
Bangladesh were left with just under a session to bat before the close of play, and the West Indies bowlers wasted no time.
Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph struck late in the day, reducing Bangladesh to 21 for 2.
Seales dismissed Zakir Hasan in the 10th over, just after the opener had struck a couple of boundaries.
Shortly after the drinks break, Joseph sent Mahmadul Hasan Joy packing for 5, caught in the slips.
From 21 for 2, Mominul Haque and Shahadat Hossain held firm, taking Bangladesh to 40 without further loss by the close of play, despite fading light.
