Bangladesh had a near-perfect session on Day 3 of the second Test at Rawalpindi, adding 118 runs to reduce Pakistan’s lead to 81.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das both reached half-centuries, exploiting an older ball and erratic lines from the Pakistan bowlers.

Khurram Shahzad managed to break through, dismissing Mehidy and Taskin before the tea break, bringing his tally to six wickets.

The session started with Bangladesh attacking boundaries aggressively.

Litton Das scored two boundaries through gully off wide deliveries from Shahzad, then hit three more boundaries—two through gully and one each through the drive and pull shots.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz ended the over with a boundary through extra cover, making it a productive 17-run over for Bangladesh.

Litton and Mehidy continued their aggressive counter-attack against Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Ali, scoring freely and rotating strike efficiently, aided by the larger boundaries at Rawalpindi.

Their 100-run partnership was marked by a boundary through gully, helping Bangladesh avoid the follow-on.

Litton reached his 18th Test fifty with a clip to deep backward square leg, and Mehidy soon followed with a cut to backward point.

Overpitched deliveries from Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza were punished by the pair.

As tea approached, Shahzad returned to the attack and was initially punished by Litton, who hit him for a four and a six on the leg-side.

Mehidy continued the assault with another six off Shahzad, and Litton added another six to close the over.

However, Shahzad had the final say as he delivered a ball that held on the pitch, resulting in Mehidy chipping a catch back to the bowler.

Shahzad then claimed his sixth wicket when Taskin was late in bringing his bat down, resulting in an LBW decision from an in-dipper.
