A thrilling day of Test cricket saw Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan for 274 on Day 2 of the second Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Ground.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the standout performer with a five-wicket haul (5 for 61), well-supported by Taskin Ahmed, who took 3 for 57.

Despite three Pakistani batters scoring half-centuries—Shan Masood (58), Saim Ayub (57), and Salman Ali Agha (54)—Pakistan will be disappointed with their inability to convert their starts into a more substantial total.

Bangladesh managed to see out a couple of challenging overs without losing a wicket before stumps.

Pakistan, put in to bat first by Bangladesh, had a disastrous start.

Taskin Ahmed, in his comeback Test, dismissed Abdullah Shafique by setting him up beautifully.

Shan Masood and Saim Ayub then formed a 107-run partnership, with both reaching fifties as the pitch became more favorable for batting.

The bowlers were consistent early on, shaping the ball in and away from the batters, but Ayub and Masood managed to rotate the strike effectively and capitalized on loose deliveries.

Ayub hit two sixes, and Pakistan ended the first session at 99 for 1.

After lunch, Bangladesh made a strong comeback.

Mehidy trapped Masood leg-before as he attempted a cross-the-line shot.

Ayub reached his fifty with a pull shot off Nahid Rana but was soon stumped by a reckless shot against Mehidy.

Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel began consolidating but faced further setbacks.

Shakeel initially attacked Taskin but was dismissed shortly after.

Babar, who looked composed, was LBW to Shakib Al Hasan, extending his streak of innings without a half-century to 15.

Shakib nearly had another wicket in the same over, but an inside edge from Salman Ali Agha was dropped at short leg.

Pakistan went to tea at 183 for 5.

Mushfiqur Rahim left the field with a shoulder injury, which Bangladesh hopes is minor.

Nahid Rana, the 21-year-old fast bowler, used his height effectively, troubling the batters and finally dismissing Mohammad Rizwan, who edged a back-of-a-length delivery to slip.

Khurram Shahzad, who was dropped on 9, was eventually caught by Shakib at mid-off off Mehidy.

Mehidy then took his fourth wicket with Mohammad Ali being caught at first slip.

Salman, who was lucky to survive a chance caught on his pads, eventually reached his fifty with a six before being dismissed by Taskin.

Abrar Ahmed provided some late entertainment with a four and a six before being stumped off Mehidy’s bowling.

Mehidy’s five-wicket haul helped dismiss Pakistan for 274.

Bangladesh faced two challenging overs before stumps, with Shadman Islam being dropped first ball by Shakeel and Zakir Hasan narrowly avoiding a dismissal.
