Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested the government for a security consultant for the Pakistan tour

The BCB has received assurances of state-level security.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials stated that they have requested the government to provide a security consultant for the forthcoming tour of Pakistan.

Bangladesh, set to travel to Pakistan on August 17, will play a two-match Test series against the host as part of the ICC Test Championship, with matches scheduled in Rawalpindi (August 21-25) and Karachi (August 30-September 3).

Traveling to Pakistan is often a concern for international teams due to the country’s political situation.

“Providing safety is their (Pakistan’s) responsibility, and we agreed to the tour because they assured us of state-level security,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday.

“You might have seen during the Asia Cup that the Bangladesh team traveled to Pakistan and received state-level security, which made us confident to go on this tour.”

“Recently, some international teams have visited Pakistan and were satisfied with the security provided,” he added.

“We are also very much concerned about security, but after receiving thorough assurances, we finalized the tour.”

“We have also requested the government to assign a security consultant to accompany us during the tour, ensuring constant communication regarding security issues,” he said.

Jalal confirmed that no player has raised objections to the upcoming tour of Pakistan.

Before the two-match Test series, the Bangladesh A team will travel to Islamabad for two four-day games and three 50-over matches.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, and several other Test cricketers are included for the opening four-day game as part of their preparation for the Test series, given there are no scheduled practice games upon their arrival on August 17.
