At The Tea of Day-5:
Pakistan scored 448/6 decl. (1st Innings) & 146 (2nd Innings), where as Bangladesh scored 565 (1st Innings) & 30/0 (2nd Innings).
So, finally Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 10 wickets.
Najmul Hossain Shanto marked his 26th birthday by becoming the first Bangladesh captain to defeat Pakistan in a Test match, leading his team to a historic 10-wicket victory on the fifth afternoon in Rawalpindi.
On a day when the pitch cracks were more pronounced and the ball turned sharply, Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan combined to bowl out Pakistan for just 146—their lowest Test total against Bangladesh—leaving only 30 runs for the batters to chase.
Pakistan began the day at 23/1, trailing by 94 runs after Mushfiqur Rahim’s exceptional 191 on Day 4 had put Bangladesh in a commanding position.
The Bangladesh bowlers capitalized on this advantage, quickly dismantling Pakistan’s top order in the morning session.
Hasan Mahmud set the tone by getting Shan Masood to edge a delivery behind to Litton Das.
A review was needed to dismiss the Pakistan captain after the on-field umpire initially turned down the appeal.
Babar Azam, who almost bagged a pair after an edge off Shoriful Islam was dropped by Litton, began to find his rhythm with a boundary off Mahmud.
However, just as Babar and Abdullah Shafique seemed poised to build a crucial partnership, fast bowler Nahid Rana bowled Babar with a full delivery, sending him back for 22.
At 66/3, Shakib and Mehidy took charge, accelerating Pakistan’s collapse.
An over after Babar’s dismissal, first-innings centurion Saud Shakeel was stumped off Shakib after a reckless attempt to work the ball to the leg side.
Mohammad Rizwan entered with intent, guiding Pakistan past 100 in partnership with Shafique.
Their fifth-wicket stand was progressing well until Shakib struck again, inducing Shafique to mis-hit a charge straight to backward point.
Three balls later, Agha Salman nicked off Mehidy Hasan, with Shadman Islam taking a sharp catch at first slip, leaving Pakistan reeling at 105/6.
After Lunch, Rizwan continued to resist, but Pakistan quickly slumped further, losing Shaheen Afridi to a low ball from Mehidy that trapped him leg before.
Naseem Shah then tried to attack Shakib, only to hit a catch to Mushfiqur Rahim at short mid-wicket.
Rizwan battled on with Khurram Shahzad, reaching a gritty 70-ball fifty while Shahzad defended resolutely.
But after the drinks break in the second session, Mehidy switched to bowling around the wicket and tempted Rizwan into a risky sweep, resulting in an inside edge onto the stumps.
Rizwan departed for 51 from 80 balls, leaving Pakistan nine down.
Mehidy completed the job by trapping No.11 Mohammad Ali leg before, finishing with his fourth wicket.
Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam then calmly chased down the 30 runs required, sealing the victory in the seventh over.
