At The Tea of Day-4:
Pakistan scored 448/6 decl. (1st Innings), where as Bangladesh scored 495/6 (1st Innings).
So, finally Pakistan trail by 47 runs.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s sixth 150-plus score propelled Bangladesh into the lead during the second session on Day 4 of the first Test in Rawalpindi.
After building a century partnership with Litton Das, Rahim (173*) formed an unbroken 163-run stand for the seventh wicket with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, guiding Bangladesh to 495/6 at Tea with a 47-run lead.
Having unleashed a series of boundaries before Lunch, Rahim maintained his aggressive approach in the second session, consistently finding the fence.
Mehidy adopted a more defensive role, supporting Rahim as the partnership reached 100 when Rahim swept Agha Salman for his 17th four of the innings.
The duo steadily increased the lead and pushed Bangladesh past the 450-run mark.
Pakistan’s bowlers, struggling in the unhelpful conditions, managed a few close shouts but were unable to make a breakthrough, with their reviews already exhausted.
Rahim surpassed the 150-run milestone and was briefly reprieved when Babar Azam dropped him at leg slip off Salman’s bowling.
Mehidy reached his seventh Test fifty as the partnership became the highest seventh-wicket stand for Bangladesh in Test cricket.
Rahim further demoralized Pakistan by hitting a four and a six off Salman in the final over before Tea, leaving Pakistan wicketless in 31 overs and Bangladesh with a productive session, adding 109 runs.
Earlier in the day, the morning session was slow-moving, with Rahim and Litton Das adopting a cautious approach in the hot and humid conditions.
Rahim successfully overturned a leg-before decision using DRS after being given out off Mohammad Ali’s bowling.
Pakistan’s pace attack found it difficult to break through, despite posing occasional challenges.
The introduction of Naseem Shah brought some relief for the hosts as he dismissed Litton for 56, ending a 114-run partnership.
Rahim and Mehidy then steadied the innings with a careful partnership.
It wasn’t until the 14th over of the morning that Mehidy scored the first boundary with a controlled pull shot off Khurram Shahzad, followed by another four to help Bangladesh reach 350.
Rahim, who had been stuck on 73 off 180 balls without hitting a boundary on Day 4, finally broke free with two fours in an over off Shahzad, followed by more boundaries off Shaheen Afridi and Saim Ayub, closing in on his century.
A couple of runs off Salman brought up Rahim’s hundred off 200 balls, which he celebrated with a punch in the air and a roar.
Despite the late acceleration, Bangladesh managed only 73 runs in 25 overs before Lunch.
