Bangladesh player Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the India Test series

Shoriful Islam has yet to fully recover from the groin injury that caused him to miss the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has not been included in the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in India.

The 23-year-old is still recovering from the groin injury that kept him out of the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

His absence is the only change from the 16-man squad that achieved a historic 2-0 series win in Pakistan.

The team management remains hopeful of Shoriful’s return for the T20I series on the India tour.

“Shoriful can’t be considered fully fit at the moment.

He was unavailable for the second Test in Pakistan, which is why he wasn’t included in the selection process.

However, he is under close observation by the physios and trainers,” national selector Hannan Sarkar told the media.

“I wouldn’t say he’s 100% fit for Test cricket, as Test matches may require him to bowl 15-20 overs.

With T20 matches following this series, where Shoriful is crucial for us, we’re not willing to take any risks.

We have fully fit players in the Test squad who can compete effectively.

Thus, we decided against risking Shoriful, but we are optimistic he will be ready for the T20 squad.”

Instead of adding another fast bowler, the selectors have opted to include wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali for his Test debut.

Known for his T20 hitting, Ali performed well with Bangladesh A during their recent tour of Pakistan.

Given the conditions in India and the squad’s existing fast bowlers, this addition provides extra batting depth and allows players like Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim to focus solely on batting.

“Regarding Jaker Ali Anik, we considered both the conditions and the opposition.

We had taken five pacers to Pakistan, but this time, we’ve reduced the number of pacers and added a middle-order specialist.

We felt this was necessary to strengthen the middle order, considering the conditions and the opposition,” Sarkar explained.

Bangladesh will begin the series with the first Test in Chennai, followed by the second Test in Kanpur.
