India secured a memorable victory in Kanpur to clinch the series 2-0.

Bangladesh scored 233 (1st Innings) and 146 (2nd Innings), where as India scored 285/9 decl. (1st Innings) and 98/3 (2nd Innings).

So, finally India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets.

In what will go down as one of the most remarkable Test matches, India comfortably secured a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh on the fifth day after lunch in Kanpur.

This win not only gave India a 2-0 series sweep but also marked their 18th consecutive home series triumph.

Chasing a modest target of 95, India’s approach mirrored their first-innings aggression.

Rohit Sharma signaled intent with an early boundary but was soon dismissed by Mehidy Hasan as Bangladesh opened with spin from both ends.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) led the charge, scoring his second half-century of the match alongside Virat Kohli (29), contributing the bulk of the runs.

While Jaiswal fell just before victory, the low target meant Bangladesh’s bowlers could do little to stop India’s march.

Though the win came in the second session of the final day, the defining moments of the match had occurred in the previous four sessions.

The first three days of the Kanpur Test were a slow-burning thriller, hampered by poor weather and a sluggish outfield.

Only 35 overs were bowled on the opening day, and rain continued to disrupt play until the fourth day, with Bangladesh resuming at 107/3 on a tricky pitch.

The black soil offered low bounce, but overhead conditions and moisture provided ample movement for the pacers, making spin inevitable.

India’s bowlers weren’t entirely on top during the first day’s limited action.

Jasprit Bumrah had an off day, and Mohammed Siraj was inconsistent, but Akash Deep’s double strike vindicated Rohit’s decision to bowl first.

Ravichandran Ashwin found notable turn, but bad light and rain made a draw seem the likeliest outcome until India shifted gears, forcing Bangladesh into self-destruction.

The fourth day began like any other Test day, with Mominul Haque playing solidly to reach his 13th Test century.

However, his teammates failed to provide adequate support, and Mushfiqur Rahim’s dismissal—shouldering arms to a sharp Bumrah inswinger—set the tone for India’s dominance.

Bumrah’s revival and strong performances from the rest of the attack meant that Bangladesh crumbled from 224/6 to 233 all out, leaving Mominul stranded.

With a slender 52-run lead after a blistering assault led by Yashasvi Jaiswal (72), KL Rahul (68), Virat Kohli (47), and others, India raced through their first innings at a record-breaking run rate of 8.22, shattering multiple records along the way.

Rohit Sharma’s men essentially played T20 cricket in a Test match, seizing control with their ultra-aggressive batting.

India’s decision to declare at 285/9 further solidified their intent to win, and two wickets from Ashwin before stumps added to Bangladesh’s woes.

On the final day, starting with a deficit of just 26, Bangladesh collapsed under pressure.

Mominul Haque fell to a well-executed plan, sweeping into the hands of KL Rahul off Ashwin.

Shadman Islam (50) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto briefly steadied the ship, but Shanto’s reverse sweep off Ravindra Jadeja ignited a collapse.

Jadeja went on to dismiss Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan, while Akash Deep claimed Shadman after his half-century.

Bangladesh’s tail offered little resistance, with Bumrah wrapping up the innings just before lunch.

Chasing 95, India’s victory was inevitable.

Despite some minor hiccups, Jaiswal’s half-century ensured that the hosts completed the win swiftly.

While the opposition and home conditions might downplay the significance, India’s relentless intent and execution made this a memorable victory.
