2nd Test
Day-4 Morning Session Highlights:
Bangladesh team has remained in contention with Mominul Haque’s hundred
At The Lunch of Day-4:
Bangladesh scored 205/6 vs India.
Mominul Haque (102*) showcased his class and elegance on the fourth day of the second Test against India in Kanpur, scoring his 13th Test century and leading Bangladesh’s fightback.
Despite the visitors losing three key wickets in the morning session, Mominul’s steady presence ensured the innings wasn’t entirely dominated by the hosts.
After losing 55 overs on the first day and two full days to inclement weather, play finally resumed on the fourth day under bright and sunny skies.
The first hour proved challenging, with the pitch having been covered for so long, and that was evident in the early exchanges.
Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep opened the bowling for India, both pacers extracting significant movement.
While the pitch offered less carry, the movement kept Bangladesh’s batters on high alert.
Mominul resumed where he left off on the opening day, demonstrating remarkable composure in his shot selection and judgment of his off stump.
However, Mushfiqur Rahim fell victim to a sharp nip-backer from Bumrah, offering no shot and giving India an early breakthrough.
Litton Das entered the fray and appeared eager from the start.
He struck three well-timed fours in an over against Bumrah, but his aggressive approach soon backfired.
The wicketkeeper-batter attempted to launch Mohammed Siraj down the ground but mistimed the shot, resulting in a stunning one-handed catch by Rohit Sharma at mid-off.
India’s fielding prowess was further highlighted when Shakib Al Hasan skied a lofted shot, only for Siraj to take an exceptional catch while tumbling backward.
Amidst the chaos, Mominul continued to battle on, displaying positive intent to keep the scoreboard ticking.
As the pitch became more batter-friendly, Bangladesh’s other batsmen struggled to maintain the same level of concentration, relying heavily on Mominul’s efforts.
