2nd Test
Day-1 Afternoon Session Highlights :
Bangladesh team has maintained its position despite a rain-affected first day

At The Stumps of Day-1:
Bangladesh scored 107/3 vs India.
Rain and poor visibility wreaked havoc on the opening day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur.
The gloomy weather led to a delayed start due to a wet outfield, prompting India to choose to bowl first.
They managed to claim three wickets, including the key dismissal of Najmul Hossain Shanto for 31.
Although conditions remained overcast, the pitch emerged as a significant talking point, exhibiting variable bounce from the outset while benefiting both seamers and spinners.
Batting was challenging yet not impossible, as demonstrated by Shanto and Mominul, who put together a 51-run partnership before Shanto was adjudged LBW to Ravichandran Ashwin.
Mominul appeared composed, exhibiting confidence against both pace and spin.
For India, Akash Deep stood out as the leading bowler with figures of 2 for 34, while Jasprit Bumrah was unlucky not to claim a wicket.
Deep’s two strikes during the morning session set back Bangladesh, with both openers falling in quick succession after a steady start.
Zakir Hasan struggled and was dismissed for a duck off 24 balls, while Shadman Islam looked more fluent until he fell LBW to a sharp nip-backer from Deep.
The morning session was lively, with a total of five reviews being utilized by both teams across just 24 overs—remarkably, the entire Chepauk Test had only seen four reviews.
Deep’s wickets ignited India’s hopes of making further inroads, but a solid performance from Mominul and Shanto proved resilient.
However, the Bangladesh captain fell during the second session, which saw only nine overs bowled before bad light interrupted play, followed by heavy rain that prematurely ended the day’s action.
