At The Lunch of Day-3:

So, finally India lead by 432 runs.
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant both scored half-centuries, sharing an unbroken 138-run partnership to further cement India’s dominance in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
Gill remained unbeaten on 86, marking his fourth consecutive fifty-plus score in the second innings, while Pant was not out on 82, leading India to a strong position of 205/3 at Lunch on Day 3, with an extended lead of 432 runs.
Despite overnight and early morning rains, play commenced on time in overcast conditions.
Pant got India off to a brisk start, executing a pull shot off Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a boundary, quickly followed by another four, a controlled pull off Hasan Mahmud.
Gill began cautiously but soon showcased his aggression, launching two sixes off Mehidy to reach a well-deserved half-century.
The duo quickly built a fifty-run partnership, pushing India’s lead beyond 350.
However, the initial hour was marked by caution as India managed only 48 runs in 15 overs, despite Pant striking another four off Mehidy.
Pant reached his half-century about 30 minutes into the second hour, taking 88 balls to do so after starting the day on 12 off 13.
The pair adopted a patient approach, capitalizing on loose deliveries.
Gill dispatched a short, slow ball from Mahmud for four, while Pant elegantly came down the track to execute an inside-out shot off Mehidy for another boundary.
Gill also ventured down the pitch to Mehidy, just clearing the long-on boundary for his third six.
Pant then executed a reverse-sweep off Shakib Al Hasan for a four, raising the century partnership.
Perhaps spurred by a message from the dressing room, Pant shifted gears, driving a Mahmud delivery for a boundary, followed by a lap shot that sailed for six.
Gill continued to impress, converting a Shakib delivery into a full toss, placing it wide of cover for another four.
To add to Bangladesh’s challenges, their captain Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped a catch, granting Pant a reprieve.
Pant further asserted India’s dominance by striking two fours off Shakib, even in the final over before Lunch.
