At The Lunch of Day-2:

So, finally India lead by 350 runs.

Taskin Ahmed claimed three quick wickets, while Hasan Mahmud became the first Bangladesh pacer to secure a five-wicket haul in India, as the hosts were bowled out for 376 on Day 2 after adding just 37 runs to their overnight total.

Despite the collapse, India’s lower order put up a commendable fight, with R Ashwin’s 113 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 86 leading a recovery that saw India add 232 for the last four wickets after being reduced to 144/6.

Bangladesh, in reply, struggled early as Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah struck crucial blows, leaving them at 26/3 by Lunch.

Taskin, armed with the second new ball at the start of the day, quickly dismissed Jadeja, who poked at an outswinger to depart for his overnight score of 86.

Ashwin, continuing his fine form, edged one from Hasan Mahmud for a boundary, and Akash Deep got off to a flying start, hitting two fours in an over off the same bowler, pushing India past 350.

Akash had a stroke of luck when he miscued a shot off Taskin, but Shakib Al Hasan dropped the catch.

He followed up with a classic off-drive and another edge to the boundary off Mahmud, who had a costly start to the day.

Akash contributed 17 in a 24-run stand with Ashwin before falling to Taskin while attempting a big shot.

Jasprit Bumrah got off the mark by guiding his first ball past the slips for four.

Taskin then ended Ashwin’s brilliant innings, as the all-rounder’s attempt to clear mid-off resulted in a catch to Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Bumrah survived a Bangladesh review for LBW, with an inside edge saving him, but Mahmud finally claimed his fifth wicket when Bumrah edged a catch to Zakir Hasan at third slip.

Bangladesh’s reply began shakily.

Shadman Islam edged Bumrah’s delivery in the first over, though the ball landed safely near backward point.

He was beaten outside off repeatedly before Bumrah switched to around the wicket, bowling him for 2 when he left a delivery that nipped back in.

Zakir Hasan had a narrow escape when he was struck on the pad by Mohammed Siraj, but India chose not to review, with replays later showing the ball would have hit the stumps.

After Bumrah and Siraj completed their opening spells, Akash Deep and Ashwin took over.

Najmul Hossain Shanto attempted to play positively against Ashwin, sweeping him for a boundary, but Bangladesh’s situation worsened as Akash bowled both Zakir and Mominul Haque off consecutive deliveries.

Mushfiqur Rahim survived a testing over from Akash, and he, alongside Najmul, took Bangladesh to Lunch with much work left to do.
