1st Test
Day-1 Evening Session Highlights:
Ravi Chandran Ashwin’s hundred has put the India team back in command

At The Stumps of Day-1:
India scored 339/6 (1st Innings) vs Bangladesh.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s brilliant century powered India’s impressive recovery on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh.
Ashwin (102*) and Ravindra Jadeja (86*) combined for a record seventh-wicket partnership, steering India into a commanding position after struggling in the first two sessions.
Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s half-century, India found themselves at 144 for 6, mainly due to Hasan Mahmud’s incisive bowling.
However, Ashwin and Jadeja launched a counterattack, amassing 195 runs off 227 balls to guide India to 339/6 by Stumps.
India managed only 88 runs while losing three wickets in each of the first two sessions.
But the urgency shown by Ashwin and Jadeja, who combined for 20 fours and 4 sixes, turned the tide as they accumulated 163 runs in the final session at over five runs per over.
Bangladesh’s over-rate was subpar, managing only 23 and 25 overs in the first two sessions, and just 32 overs in the extended final session.
Bangladesh capitalized early after choosing to bowl, with pacers making good use of the conditions.
Taskin Ahmed and Mahmud tested Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, the latter surviving a close lbw call before being dismissed by Mahmud.
Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli also fell cheaply to Mahmud’s impressive spell, reducing India to 34 for 3.
Nahid Rana’s pace presented new challenges, but Rishabh Pant, returning to Test cricket after two years, found some rhythm alongside Jaiswal.
The pair added a steady 62-run partnership, but Pant’s dismissal for 39 soon after Lunch, again to Mahmud, derailed India’s progress.
Jaiswal brought up his fifty but couldn’t push on, falling to Rana, and KL Rahul followed soon after, leaving India in further trouble.
Ashwin’s positive approach after Tea changed the momentum.
He struck boundaries regularly with Jadeja offering strong support.
The pair steadily accumulated runs, with Jadeja smashing a six off Mahmud and successfully overturning an lbw decision.
Ashwin reached his half-century, and Bangladesh’s frustration grew as Ashwin and Jadeja surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan’s 133-run record for India’s highest seventh-wicket partnership against Bangladesh.
Jadeja reached his own fifty, and the partnership surged past 150.
Ashwin’s aggressive stroke play pushed India past 300, with both batters finding boundaries frequently.
Ashwin brought up his sixth Test century with a cut shot, and Jadeja edged closer to his own milestone, finishing unbeaten at 86 as the day ended with India in a position of dominance.
