Former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra has been appointed to the national men’s team selection committee, replacing Salil Ankola.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the BCCI, which includes Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, made the announcement.

In January 2024, Cricpulse reported that the BCCI was seeking a new selector from the North Zone, as one existing member was expected not to be reappointed.

Ankola, who came from the same zone as Ajit Agarkar, the current head of the committee, was the likely candidate to exit.

Ratra, who has played 6 Tests and 12 ODIs for India, has extensive experience in domestic cricket, having served as the head coach for Assam, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.

He was also part of India’s support staff during the ODI segment of the tour to South Africa in 2023.
