Afghanistan’s cricket stalwart, Noor Ali Zadran, has officially announced his retirement from the international arena on Thursday (March 7), bidding farewell after an illustrious career spanning over a decade.
Throughout his tenure, he showcased remarkable talent, featuring in 2 Tests, 51 ODIs, and 23 T20Is.
Noor Ali’s final international appearance for Afghanistan came in the recent one-off Test against Ireland, marking the end of an era.
In the white-ball formats, he leaves behind a legacy, amassing 1216 runs in ODIs at an average of 24.81, and 597 runs in T20Is with an average of 27.13.
His journey commenced in April 2009, making a memorable debut in Afghanistan’s inaugural ODI against Scotland, where his explosive 28-ball 45 set the stage for victory.
His subsequent entry into T20Is highlighted his adaptability and skill as a cricketer.
Notable among his career highlights was his impactful half-century against India in the T20 World Cup in 2010, etching his name in cricketing history.
Moreover, his resurgence in 2023 earned him a well-deserved recall for the T20Is during the Asian Games, where his stellar performances propelled Afghanistan to the final against India.
