Nasum Ahmed and Nahid Rana will arrive late in the UAE due to visa issues
Bangladesh began their preparations for the upcoming three-match ODI series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday (November 4), but without uncapped pacer Nahid Rana and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed.
Both players are yet to travel to the UAE due to ongoing visa issues.
It has also been confirmed that neither Nasum nor Nahid were initially scheduled to feature in Bangladesh’s playing XI for the first ODI.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials confirmed the situation to Cricpulse, explaining that the two players are expected to travel as soon as their visas are processed.
“Until now, we haven’t received their visas, so we couldn’t send them to Sharjah,” BCB’s cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees told Cricpulse.
“We are hopeful that they will be able to fly out tomorrow (November 5), as we expect the visas to come through soon.
However, until we have them in hand, it’s difficult to confirm the exact dates.”
The Bangladesh squad had a full-fledged training session in Sharjah, with the series providing a key opportunity for the team to begin their preparations for the 2024 ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in February and March.
Bangladesh had split their departure from Dhaka into two groups.
A total of 13 players arrived in Dubai on November 3 and 4 to kick off their training for the series, which begins on November 6, with the remaining matches scheduled for November 9 and 11.
Meanwhile, Nasum and Nahid are currently staying at the BCB Academy in Dhaka, awaiting their visas to travel to the UAE.
